About Threads!

.........this blog writing task could become a habit, and quickly!  As I've played around these last few minutes, I kept noticing the title of the blog, 'Threads'; it occurs to me I might want to 'decipher' the name for you, dear reader, and to remind myself.

I do not sew; thanks in part to the poet Rilke, and to my Spiritual Director, and to the aging process, I do however 'weave', creating a life, paying particular attention now that I am on the edge of 'young old age'.

From Rilke, a piece I've learned by heart and repeat most days:

'She who reconciles the ill-matched threads of her life
and weaves them gratefully [italics mine] into a single cloth -
it is she who drives the loudmouths from the hall
and clears it for a different celebration, where the one guest is you -
in the softness of evening it is you she receives;
you are the partner in her loneliness,
the unspeaking center of her monologues -
with each disclosure you encompass more
and she stretches beyond what limits her to hold you.'

From a recent effort of my own writing a 'lanterne' poem - a syllabic poem the lines of which are 1,2,3,4,5,1 syllables; the topic was hospitality - to oneself as well as to the world in which one moves:

'Weave
the strands
and welcome
every thread -
living tapestry.
Be.'

Always We Begin Again

I haven't a clue what I'm doing beyond typing!

I believe that I need to write in some fashion, and have found most of my way here ~ I say most because the template I liked today doesn't seem to be the template on which I am working.

I am a Certified Spiritual Director and one of the mantras of that vocation is to 'trust the process'; and so I begin, again, with a pocketful of trust.

I like to create ~ poems, haiku, collage - multiple areas cause those creative impulses to flow, for which I am grateful.
I'd like to believe that each of the aforementioned will show up here someday, when I'm closer to knowing what I'm doing sitting here seeing nothing but this screen, with my words accumulating.

No earth shattering announcements or pronouncements today; just a beginning.

I'm good with that.
